Again, can you hear me?
Hey can you hear me?
That well.

FranU Student
04:42:47 PM
are you able to hear me?
Inside
So.
Dylan Drumm
04:43:52 PM
Gannon can you hear me?
You there?
Did you?
Hello.
Hello, how are you?
Then, well, how are you talk later?
Hello.
Good, how about you already said that?
So yeah.
I did that thing where you know I said how are you and you said you're doing well and you said, how are you I said, hey great how are you did that?
Yeah, it's good.
I'm going back and forth.
So this.
Platform is interesting.
Then
Yeah, it's it's.
Looks about the same thing I guess.
Now I need a little bit better.
Yeah.
You think you want Dylan till I'm listening to him.
Doctor Leonard
Can you hear me?
I'm not sure who's on a second ago. I wasn't sure if he could hear me or not, um.
I thought I heard him, not sure.
Is Lily?
It looks deep in thought under that.
Uh-huh
The thanks for responding to that email I sent to you earlier. As far as cell type would just be receptor, would that be the cell time for an instant now?
What are we sit like? What's like? I know you have.
Right, well, what type of Hello? What type of cell do you want to look at? So something that hasn't a Glucagon receptor and then?
So like like a muscle like a muscle cell, would that be a cell type? OK OK OK.
I'm asking so I was thinking more like Celtic culture, but your, uh, design is just fine with my niece is fine. I think Lily did that to write with your bio Chem Lab report. Yeah, that's fine.
Hello.
Real excited.
Um?
Yes.
I brushed my hair.
She did.
All right?
So bad.
OK.
Ha.
So we're going to enter stuff and they were mostly gonna let y'all talk because you're way more interesting than us.
OK.
Is correct, I am always correct.
So Dylan, can you hear me or no?
I think that everyone can you guys hear me.
I can I can hear you.
You're more quiet than the students, but I can hear you.
Dylan Drumm
04:49:39 PM
Is the sound working
I I can't hear, I can't hear you don't can you hear I'm lonely?
I can hear him.
Maybe I maybe I should leave and come back or work.
I need to turn my volume up a good bit to your Dylan.
And you might minds maxed out right now.
Himali again.
Someone is cutting in and out.
Not really.
Alright, that's better I see now. I didn't see earlier. Dylan, I couldn't hear you those strange.
Hey man.
So I don't know truth. UM, Internet services been like really bad today. Minus to say the truth, but it seems to be fine right now. So she might be bailing out.
Why don't you give us?
There's two main.
But I can't hear them.
But
Yes.
Oh Gosh.
Just one live action would still you look very concerned in the still still version.
And his family.
Oh Gosh, I don't know. Is there a way to kick me off Dylan? Can you kick the other me off?
Can you see the other one?
I see yeah see friend you student I'm guessing oh wait, now it's going. Is it going now?
Yeah, it's gone.

I see everyone other.
That is weird. You are special, you're all special, that right?
He
Can you hear me?
Yeah you are.
Have you used this before for S, Rs or anything?
Video is gone now I see all them.
No, I think he made it my name 'cause we have some FS our stuff coming up.
Nick
Why is it read my speakers turn green that it is?
Yeah.
So what it looks like the online.
Look at the scientific minds.
Observation right?
And the working man.
Say again.
I want to log into my desktop.
Yeah.
Replay.
Questions right now.
Be good, alright. I'm mostly waiting in. We'd have a PowerPoint.
Yeah, my download PowerPoint right so?
Yeah.
So I will play by ear.
Cat is sleeping, so we shouldn't have any interruptions.
Who is able?
My cat.
Yeah, but it's my animals are sleeping so they won't play with the other day. It's very sad.
Very sad.
I'm sorry I cut out earlier today or Wi-fi's been weird.
How?
Mine actually so.
Alright, can you guys hear me now?
Fine.
You're like I don't have to be here, basically left.
Hello, can you guys hear Maine?
Hello.
Come back again.
Perfect alright.
I can hear you.
There.
Do you guys have detail Emily?
Might have lost Emily again where you live.
So I have to wear these dumb headphones now because um, my laptop is not working with the with the audio in the video, so I'm on my.
Desktop.
I think she might have lost maybe.
Are not me.
So there.
But you guys can hear me, right?
I can hear you.
How boy?
OK, cool Gannon Emily Lily.
Again.
This is our new normal, sorry.
Alright, so Emily you can hear Maine.
Whoever's got the best connection, they just answer the question.
Right?
What should?
Really.
Heather Lopez
04:54:20 PM
Hi everyone!
OK, alright, so let's see give me a thumbs up Lily, you can hear Maine.
Bag.
Lilly can you hear Maine?
Heather Lopez
04:54:33 PM
Testing your chat box!
I've got to find a haircut. I gotta get a haircut. Seen my hair is so long right now.
Thanks.
Whatever.
It's gonna be OK.
Then my 1980s curtains over here. Yeah, I've not been changed.
Looks nice.
Yeah.

Somewhere in Dillon.
That's a good point after good sure.
See.
Oh wait, I gotta upload them.
What?
Now I think I see hold on.
Her boy.
That was not any instructions Dylan if you could hear me.
Why?
Heathers here Dylan Sierra, supposedly.
I see Heather typing in the chat box.
Heather, if you can hear me.
FranU Student
04:55:44 PM
Hello!
I don't know how to go to do not look it up.
Right?
Hello.
Can you go back to your control which says share slides? I don't know.
All right?
Well.
Yeah, I'm sharing but.
Hold on.
Hi all.
Can you guys come? I need to know if you guys can hear me or not. Yes.
Yes, Dillon yet.
I'm assuming that.
Hi.
Something's happening.
Dylan is having some problems.
So excited.
With the uh, like thinking about both, basically.
Dylan Drumm
04:56:34 PM
Can yall hear me?>
I see.
Like the hourglass spinning, you know back in the day.
Hang up.
Can
There's 32 seconds elapsed, thank you.
Again, and can you hear Maine? No yes.
Yes.
Dylan.
Yeah.
No Lily Doctor Leonard can hear Maine.
Yes, we can hear you.
Free nodding sagely.
Then a good time.
Heather Lopez
04:57:04 PM
We can hear you Dylan!
The drop.
It.
Lily
Can you hear me?
Say again.
Yeah.
OK.
Can you hear me?
Hello.
So do they type questions in the chat box?
I'm unaware of this format.
I'm going to So what we're going to do is we're going to go through the whole flow 1st and then at the end.
No one knows.
Don't you know?
No.
Find out.
I'm glad your slides from our slides. I guess um on my phone just in case something like uses, my guy will just talk.
We have to.
What time?
I can't see them.
All right?
Something to Dylan, I'll do it.
Right on the panel can hear me, is that right?
I can hear you.
Yep.
You can hear me OK, good good, alright cool.
Alright, so here's what we're gonna do then, uhm?
Hi everyone.
Weren't gonna go.
So they said they can hear me now, so I guess it's working. Somebody Gannon. Will you move your Mike Rowe quick?
Mute it, yeah?
Yeah, just real quick.
It's it's a page is frozen.
Nothing.
Somebody's Mike has some bad feedback. I'm hearing it through my headphones. I don't know who's it is though.
Frozen 2
How many minutes do?
So if you hit that little next to broadcast video, there's a little mute audio button right there.
You might need to reload your page. I just hit the refresh button and come back in 'cause I change some settings.
Hi guys.
Yeah, actually, I guess it was Lily then maybe.
OK.
Nothing.
Did you get it OK, Dylan?
Yeah mine still.
I think so. I think they can hear me now, so um.
OK.
We had sometimes so you guys will get going up. Just let me know if it drops because sometimes the audio gets really bad. Annual get some feedback and so it's not you guys, it's late.
See you.
It is.
So if we get in and you guys are like that audio has gone crazy and we can't do it, what will do is will well push it in, zoom and then well. But I think that you guys are going to be OK now but it up and going.
Yep.
OK.
The Internet connection is really bad recently and so you might get dropped and it's nothing that we can do. It's just that so many people are on that it gets cut and so you have to come back on. But every like the slides are on there and one thing that I like to do.
'cause I like to hit control slot like whenever I'm controlling the slides. I don't like this students to have access to them because they can click on him. Actually adjust your settings to where they can only feed current slide.
Yeah.
And then it just makes it a little bit easier and they can't just come in and.
OK.
Zoom in so you guys are all good to go.
OK.
Hey.
Sweet Alright, Thanks Heather. We'll get started. I said I think Lily might have dropped out real quick. She might have been the one that had the Mike issues, but we're going to go ahead and get started. It looks like we got some people coming in here so everyone is good to see your face is. It's been quite awhile. Hope you guys have been OK.
But I'll do real quick is I'm just going to introduce everyone OK, and then I'll let you take just a minute to introduce yourself. If you're a faculty member, tells what you teach what you do. You're a student. Halili. Welcome back if you're a student, tell us what program a little bit of your background and we'll talk a little bit more about that later. OK, so everyone. We have two faculty members with us Doctor Dixie Gotro and Doctor Natalie Leonard. You guys can see them as I believe they're called friendly faculty and for any professor under videos.
And then we also have three students with us, and believe winter, who you can see us current students just waving Gannon Brant and he's outside. And then we also have Lillie Vincic lilies. One of our FRF, so she she has a special account so you can see her name is pretty cool, so let's go ahead and have Dixie Dr. Gaucho explain just kind of what you do. What programs come? Some of the classes you teach, and then we'll move on a doctor letter.
So I teach chemistry at Freya, knew and so. A lot of you guys that'll be brand new coming into frame you in the fall you'll see me for Kim 1315 general chemistry one on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:15. But I also advise for the be AI program.
So her up her Internet has been down today. I can introduce her if you like.
Oh OK, yeah, go ahead.
Right, so you have to go through is the code share Sciences, so chemistry, math and physics and also the advisor for one of our tracks in biology. So it was called biochemical analysis and instrumentation. She teaches all kinds of chemistry from freshman to senior. So Jin, Kim and senior research and lots of in between courses and she's just an all around great person.
Yeah.
She is for sure.
Do it yourself.
Some Doctor Leonard. The codes have Sciences for biology but also the biology program director and the advisor for the Medison track. Also the 3 + 2 accelerated pathway to physician assisted settings. So I teach all kinds of biology, mostly the upper level courses. But sometimes I teach anatomy Physiology.
Awesome awesome, OK? So let's start with our students. Then I'll have Gannon. You can go first, tell us a little bit about yourself and we're actually will talk a little bit about your pathway later when we talk about our questions, but just give us a little intro in yourself.
My name is Gannon. Uhm, I actually graduated from Fran. You maybe five years ago from their nursing program and I came back in order to take the prereqs to apply to medical school and that's currently where I'm at right now.
Awesome Alright Emily either.
They will lose Emily. I think we might allows. Emily M.
Well.
If we lose Lily as well.
Looks like it.
That's right, they'll come back right. There's really alright Lily. Go ahead and introduce yourself.
Where I can hear me?
Yep.
Uh-huh running slowly come on junior here in the biology program I'm doing the human Medison Track 'cause I have plans to go to Med school. Pretty active on campus. If you STA Heather Biology organization called bagel signal news that you're interested alot of biology students get involved in that organization and like you said on one of the FS are so a lot of the incoming freshmen have the opportunity to apply for the scholarship.
And if you get the scholarship, you kind of get to be on campus with the admissions. People work, open houses, orientations and do fun stuff like this with an R.
Yes.
Yeah, so for just you know we're saying FS are kind of liberally, and I know some of you in the call might not know what that means. It's our Franciscan scholarship recipient, so we have five scholarships a year that we can give out to students meeting certain requirements, and it's a full ride to frame and so lilies one of those, I think, Lily you've been here with three years now is that right? Three years just your third year? OK? And then, let's see. Do we have Emily back?
Can you hear us Emily?
Alright, awesome, go ahead and introduce yourself real quick Emily.
You wanna go ahead and true so.
Alright, awesome, I think we're having some Internet connections.
Hey.
Yes, I can hear you.
And Ah, I'm Emily Winter. I'm the senior address.
Um, I'm a senior and my concentration is the AI track and then.
Can you hear?
OK.
Have a little bit of Internet connection issues with you Emily. We can hear you. It's just lagging a little bit. That's OK, so we're going to come back to you. 'cause next, I just want to have doctor Leonard inductor go to talk for just a few minutes before we come back to the students. So what you guys are all here for is our biology program. Obviously I want to talk about really all facets because we say biology program, but there's a lot of moving parts that biology program. It's not just the biology program, right? And so if we could just start with doctor go tro and then have doctor Leonard add into it.
Can't explain what you would like to know if as an insured or biology program, so you have some slides here so you guys can go through those, or if Doctor Leonard. Once I kind of took over for if the connection is not working, you guys have slides, you can control them but just can't tell us what you would want students to know about it.
No.
Go ahead, Yep, go-ahead Dr learn.
Oh are you?
Oh that's Doctor Rocha
Looks so and one things you mentioned that I didn't even cover. You mentioned PT school, which is a really good segue. I don't know if many people in this info session may be interested in PT school, but what are PT program says? And what I see recruiting a lot is students that are interested in doing a doctorate in physical therapy. They think kinesiology is the route to go right?
But when are we talk to our DPT program? They say really the coursework is what's hard and the DPT program and kinesiology really limits you and your science knowledge right? And so a biology degree or something in that realm sets up a student for doctor to physical therapy alot better and so that's one thing. If you guys are interested in that when you're in the chat that you should know about. So let's move on a little bit to the students we have right? We'll start with Gannon real quick. Go ahead again until.
Plus you're in the biology program now, right? You mentioned you went to the the bachelors in science in nursing program. What are your plans postgrad?
Also, my plans postgrad is to go to medical school, so I plan on applying to medical schools in Louisiana and maybe branching out some other states as well too.
OK, and do you know what a specialization you're a little bit further away from that you don't have to do that yet, but any ideas what your interests are?
I'm interested in in Pullman Ologie.
Pornhub
So those are generally the physicians that work in the ICU's. I'm also Inter interested in palliative care, which is kind of end of life care or kind of management of chronic diseases. So this is 2 things I'm mainly interested in.
OK, awesome and then we have Emily's next. So what are your plans? Postgrad Emily, I believe you don't have too much time left, right?
Yes, Sir, I'm graduating in May plans postgrad are to apply to PA school so the applications open at the end of this month. So just a few days actually. And I'll be applying to. Of course, Rainys PA program and the different PA schools in this state and nearby states as well.
You
Awesome answer any Lily? What about you postgrad plants?
Oh, you're muted Lily.
I was.
Obviously trying to copy Gannon. Uhm, when we go to medical school too, I have plans to take the M cat soon if they don't keep getting cancelled because of the virus and applications are opening soon. Like Emily said, probably going to apply to a lot of in state schools as well as like nearby state schools.
Gotcha, OK, so the next question I want to go through I think really is going to cover most of you guys that are participating today, so I want to start with Emily, Ann Lily and we're going to talk about what advice you guys would give first time freshmen entering into a biology program right? So what do you maybe wish you would have known? What did people tell you that was really helpful starting in a biology program? It maybe. Let's say the age of 18 or 19.
I can.
And let's say Lily go first, yeah?
Sorry Emily, I just have this dying passion to tell everyone to join the SM. It's our biology organization gannon's also on the board and Doctor Leonard is our advisor for the org. I started out in it my freshman year and it is really opened up a lot of opportunities for us. An undergrad service opportunities. They have guest speakers that come to all the meetings for like Med schools, PA schools.
And it took you aren't really sure what you're interested in like joining this org really helps make connections in the community and really figure out what you are interested in. So my plug is definitely join via.
OK, and Emily.
They're going along with what Lily said. It's super important to get involved once you're in college. There are so many ways that brain who has that you can get involved. For me, I joined the SM, of course, and I also joined the student Government Association. It's a really neat way to get involved and wings like planning events on campus, but also making big changes like some people are trying to incorporate study abroad into frame you and we're trying to work on getting a coffee shop on campus and getting better printing things like that and.
Being part of STA is is a really good way to make a difference on campus and in the community. And you can also volunteer friend. You have service learning opportunities and some classes and you can volunteer in your campus an going into the biology program, not just that Brandy, but anywhere you need to be prepared to work very hard in college is a time when all of a sudden you have a lot more free time than you did when you were in high school. You're not in class for say 8 hours a day. You may have just one class in one day, so.
Rather than just sleeping late and or watching TV problems, extra hours that you have tried to really get ahead in your classes, it's super important to stay on top of your homework, even if it's due 2 weeks from now, you can still work on it and stay ahead, and I'm telling that just because I've had some experience in the password. Always do that and it came back to bite me. So stay ahead in your homework and that will really pay off because there's a lot more information that you need to consume during college and it can be overwhelming at times. So just.
Set aside some time every single day and work on your homework and that'll really help you to be a better student in the end.
And that's pretty much what I've got. Also, be productive with your summers. I've had the opportunity to do some different things, but each of my summers like go on mission trips and work, summer jobs, things like that. But for certain postgraduate plans like PA school especially, they really emphasize patient care experience. And for me, that's one thing I've really been working on in the past year or so, but I wish I had started sooner because some PA programs they
They require a minimum of like 500 hours of patient care experience. The averages more around 2000 hours of patient care experience that things like being a CNA or being an ER tech just different things where you have actual patient care experience, sometimes even in a hospital and that really helps you to learn more about what it is to be in in the medical profession.
An you can take CNA classes during the summer. There are lots of different routes that you can go but I highly recommend. Don't just waste your summers do something productive and you'll be thankful.
Awesome, OK, So what about Doctor Leonard and Doctor Groucho? Some first time freshman tips. What's your guess? How can I first time freshmen prepare best for your programs?
Awesome awesome inducted culture. You want to go ahead and try and see if we can hear you.
So one of the things that I would say is to make sure you know your professors come into frame and you are.
Yes and no.
Professors.
Come come to our office hours.
So let's move on to Gannon. Alright, you ready?
Thanks Sir.
So, your uh, your pathway has been a little bit different. You kind of mentioned, you know you did the four year nursing program and then you came back in your anticipated and go into Med school.
We have a lot of students at friendly that are very similar. We have a lot of non traditional students. A lot of older students, and so what's maybe some of the best advice that you could give them.
Yeah, let's just hear it.
Best advice arm so I'm gonna kind of reiterate some of things that have already been said because I think it's good advice. But when I came back I kind of expected some of the courses to be easier than they were 'cause I had already already have a degree, right? So I went back into 101 and I was expecting to be able to just kind of cruise through it. It's actually really difficult. I just study a lot so.
My voice, like Doctor Gross said is go see your teachers. They know I bothered them pretty frequently. I mean, they're always just very nice and polite about it and helpful. So if I don't understand material I can there all the teachers I've had all professors have been really kind and very available to me also.
Yeah.
As it was kind of said earlier, is using study groups or explaining it to your cat or dog. I found studying with other people has been more helpful for Maine, so just we have smaller class sizes at frame you so you get inside of kind of it's easier to make relationships with the other students like like Lily.
Lily and other students would go study organic chemistry in library and spend a lot of time kind of explaining everything to each other and it helped helped us learn it better. And I've kind of done that all the way through.
Finding a other friends and people to study with, and I felt that helped me a lot along with saying the teachers very frequently.
Awesome.
Awesome awesome now and I don't know if this is true or not. You can let me know is very new. The only University ever attended.
Actually went to Nicholls State University and Baton Rouge Community College.
OK, so you said you been to you been here, couple other schools, and that's very common for a lot. Really more. The majority of our students. And so you have experience across the board a lot of times when I talk to students and I went to a big University and you hit on the faculty right? And they're very invested and that is something that I notice that frame you as soon as I came here. Now just a president, not a student guys. I wish I was, but as soon as I came here, all of the faculty compared to some of the large universities that I went to or so invested and so personal with their students.
And that sets us apart. I love it even just on the staff side. I get to know a lot of people when I get to work with you guys. When I get to work with a ton of awesome people, but our students get that experience as well and so that's just a great great aspect. A little bit. OK, thanks again. Last thing as far as what we're going to talk about on the panel and then we're going to open it up to questions and I'll explain to you guys in the chat how we're going to do that and answer your questions after this. But if doctor Leonard will wait for doctor, go to come back.
One of the things that I think is a very big misconception about not just our program, but all biology programs. I hear this a lot on the road is that you cannot get a great job with a biology degree unless you going to grad school. Can you kind of bust that myth and just let people know there's a ton of things that you can do with just an undergrad, even though a lot of people are looking to move forward with that graduate degree.
I hear that a lot lately I'm going to come back to you with the file question on a second, but I want to explain to everyone that's participating right now. What we're going to do next, so we're going to field for probably about 1520 minutes before we end this. We're going to build your questions. I'm sure you guys have questions, So what you can do? Actually, I know you guys aren't seeing anything in the chat, but we are seeing you chat and we can approve it, right? So if you guys just ask your questions and the chat and then I will approve it and I won't be able to see it. And then we'll get our panel to answer it.
Yes.
Right, and so go ahead and type your questions out now and will read them out and will answer him while you guys do that. I'm going to have a follow-up question with Lily, so doctor Leonard mentioned you work as kind of an assistant or internship up Pennington right? So tell us a little bit about that how you came to get that position, how it came available, different things like that so that one things that I'm a big proponent of. I tell all college students is while you're in college. Find some type of internship, because when you submit a resume to a job, there might be 100 people applying for the same crap that have the same education as you.
But the experience is something that can help separate you from the rest of the field, right? So explain kind of what you do and how you got them.
Indya Batiste
05:31:31 PM
hi, indya here.
Yeah, so I'm kind of like Emily was saying when you apply to grad schools they kind of like expect you to have a wide variety of different experiences. So my freshman year I had gotten a job as a scribe and so I got a lot of like clinical experience at the hospital but also for medical school specifically. The care a lot about research experience.
Dylan Drumm
05:31:40 PM
Feel free to put questions in the chat
So, uh, my sophomore year I did like usire poster like she had talked about with one of my professors and I was really interested in research and one of the seniors that was in our organization, BSN. She told me that she had a job at anything so I kind of just like talk to her about it and it turned out that doctor Leonard was her connection to this specific lab at Pennington. So I kind of.
Went to doctor Leonard. Expressed my interest and possibly like expanding my experience in the research field. She spoke with her connection at Pennington. We set up an interview. I kind of went over there. See what kind of research they did, and after interviewing I was offered a student worker position as a student worker. Depending on kind of like what kind of lab and research they do, you do like some bench work like you learn western blots and.
Yeah.
Q PCR lab techniques that you will learn in Biochem and you're different classes, so it gave me a lot of practical experience as well as research. We do research with mice, so that was definitely some interesting experiences that I wouldn't have the opportunity to have gotten without my connections here. That's fine, you.
That's awesome, I didn't realize that a doctor lyrics. I would hope you get that that's so cool. So that's a very personal touch that our faculty are able to give to our our students. I love it. OK so I don't. I don't see any questions. I want to give you guys just a couple minutes if you guys.
Can figure it out. I don't want to end this early. If you guys have questions, So what I'm going to do is I'm actually going to talk for just a couple minutes just so if you do have further questions you don't want to ask him here, I'm going to let you know how you can ask them how you can reach out to us.
So there's one and I'll pull it in, but let me let me just go ahead and say I was going to say so and will get to your question just in a minute. Sonia. So one thing that we're doing. Obviously This is crazy times right. In fact, I see pretty much all four of you almost everyday when were on campus. But this is the first time seeing you in like a month, and so we obviously are not in the office, but we are very, very available. Same hours we normally would be OK, so for us my office the admissions office.
The best way to get in contact with us is going to be our email. OK, and it's very easy. It's simply admissions. Plural with an S admissions at franu.edu.

I always tell high school students especially never ever commit to a University until you step foot on their campus.

Do you care about the religion of your students?
You need to make sure that it's a fit for you. Um, with that we do have a couple of questions, so I'm going to go ahead and approve them so you guys can see them now we don't have anyone on the call. I think in medical lab science, but Doctor Leonard you could probably answer that one right. The high demand for medical lab scientists.
Now I don't have specific numbers either, but I do know doctor Fox who is our program director for medical lab science. What she explained to me and some of the students that I walk through with her is that that field is getting the.
The employees in the field are getting older. They're retiring out, and so they need younger people to step into the field. But it's also not as very much gnome, because when you go to the doctor and you get test friend, you will never really see the lab scientists, right? So people don't really know about it. It's a great Great Karere. In fact, I know when I started at Fran, you just over a year ago we did have a clinic that was actually offering scholarships to our students for them to go work for them because they needed.
Or employees and I have not heard an update since then, but I know that when I started we had that scholarship monopoly was there last fall. So yes, it is a very very high demand profession and I would definitely encourage you reach out to us so we can give you some more information on it. And then I can go ahead and actually answer the next one. Lily Fraser. Do you care about their religion of your students? We do not actually. So we are mission statement as we form Franciscan leaders of all face we are at Catholic institution, so pretty much.
Every degree program you go into, you'll take at least one theology course. Probably just one theology khorasan less. You're in a theology major, but you do not have to be Catholic to come to our University.
Biggest single view.
Arm out, maybe we can talk about DSM really quickly, just not.
A beta signaling.
OK, let's see if we have anymore. No, nothing all right. Well thank you guys so much in just a couple minutes early. Did you guys have anything you want to add? I'll just say again and anything you good.
Yes, I actually wrote that down. Will you tell us what DSM means?
My soul is actually our president and I just want to expand on a couple of things that we've had in the past or a couple of users we've actually had.
OK, got you so go ahead and talk about DSM. Tell us what we need to know.
It's.
So we've had the Dean of admissions come and speak with us from LSU, New Orleans, so and we try to get guest speakers to come each semester. And it's just it's, I thought I would just kind of expand on that a little bit to kind of give you an idea of some of the things that went on with the club. It seems like a really good way to kind of lead into applying to medical school. Having those types of guest speakers come, so we're lucky enough to be able to do.
It will be.
Yeah, I think organizations.
Organizations like connections are important, right? I know as a young student, I didn't realize how important that was, but just like Lily was saying, what Doctor Leonard and helping get her connected with with Pennington, that's huge, right? And so connections are important in little you can go ahead and add to all that if you'd like.
And I think something might be off of my laptop 'cause I couldn't really hear the and then. So if I say something that he already said, I'm really sorry, but.
Yeah, so he basically said um kind of intro BSN talk about DSM and that sometimes they have guest speakers come in like the Dean of admissions at all issue Orleans.
Yes, they are. The connections are really important and I don't know if he touched on this, but we have a lot of opportunities for service in the community. SO1 organ 8 organization that we work really closely with is the Bella Bowman Foundation. It's like a Cancer Research Foundation, so we go to all by organizations and help out.
Service is also really important to put on like your resume and just to be a part of so.
Awesome, Awesome Doctor Leonard. Anything to add?
Awesome yes and doctor go choices on there. It's just dixie.gothroughitforany.edu. I think you guys should be able to see the slides if not. Like I said we always connect you with anyone. You need to be connected to the admissions Ephraim nude ID and link anything to add.
Now just get ready to work hard. Congratulations on taking this first step to going to college is great.
Awesome, awesome right? And Lily, what about you? Last thing?
Last thing is I don't know if a lot of y'all have like other people from your home schools like high schools interested in frame you, but I know from like my high school I was the only one who came to friend you from my high school so I started at friend you and literally didn't know anyone.
Has really scared I was like Oh my gosh, I'm not going to make any friends then go to like a big University like LSU or something where everyone has people from their schools. But I made friends so fast and I wanted to say something about the biology program. It's it's kind of smaller so we are literally all friends. We study all of us together. We have group messages for classes because there's 2530. Maybe people in it.
So it's really easy to just click and make friends that we kind of were saying, like getting involved. So if you are the only one from your school or organization from your school interested in this, don't let that stop you from coming to a school. But you don't really know that much people for.
Awesome awesome. Well thank you guys. That was great. Uh, thank you for joining us you um, all their students in the chat. Please again feel free to reach out to us just like everyone on the panel today. We're all here for you were here to assist you. You guys are main focus. The students are our main focus. We love what we do right.
So I'm gonna go ahead and ended up just double check so there are no more questions, right? I think we're good. It was. Hey, it was great to see you guys again. I can't wait to see you in person but I guess.
Bye guys.
